At Salon Estique, we know hair color, we also know hair color might be intimidating for a first-timer. Our stylists will guide you through the choices that will best achieve your desired results.

Semi-permanent hair color is good for first-timers or those who aren't looking to make a drastic change. Semi-permanent dye has no ammonia and no developer, so no color is deposited inside the hair shaft. Instead, the color coats the hair, which is why it's often referred to as a "glaze" or "gloss" Semi-permanent color is good for changing or enhancing tones -- but not for changing colors. It can last 6 to 12 shampoos.

Demi-permanent hair color results in a more obvious change for someone who wants to avoid anything drastic. It contains no ammonia but does have a small amount of peroxide, which opens the hair cuticle slightly so that some color will be absorbed. Demi-permanent does a better job of darkening hair and will blend gray hair, but it doesn't lighten hair. Demi-permanent hair color will fade and typically last 12 to 24 shampoos.

Glaze uses semi-permanent to darken hair, change tonality and adds shine. Clear glaze can be used to make your natural color shine. The glaze needs to be reapplied every few weeks or months, depending on the desired result.

*Because both semi- and demi-permanent hair color fades quickly, take proper steps to ensure that the color lasts as long as possible. Avoid shampooing every day, if possible; and cover your hair when going outside to shield it from the sun, which accelerates the fading process.

Permanent color permanently changes the natural pigment of your hair. It contains ammonia, or similar ingredients, to help the color molecules penetrate the hair cuticle and deposit permanent color. Because it is a stronger formula, permanent color provides the best gray coverage and also can lighten natural hair color. Recommended Regrowth touch up every 4 to 6 weeks.

Highlights/Lowlights Highlights use lightener paste or permanent color to lighten hair. Lowlights use demi-permanent color to darken sections. Both strategies are good to cover gray and usually require touch-ups every few months.

Balayage/Ombre/Hair Painting is popular hair color technique that features a gradual hair color progression (usually dark roots to light ends) and has a low-maintenance appeal with a touch-up schedule left to you.

Corrective Color/Creative Services require a series of steps, over a few appointments. Every color service is dramatically different, so a complimentary consultation is recommeded to get the best result for you. Additionally, most corrective/creative color services result in a noticeably different look for the client.
